I did something VERY fun today… a friend called me and asked if I would like to go to the Quilt Show in Paducah Kentucky. Well, of course… how could I possibly say no? We left a little after 8:00 Wednesday morning and just had the best day… the sun was shining, no rain was in the area, but today was the first day the show was open to the public and they estimated 30,000 visitors were in town. We certainly believed it. It was wall to wall people everywhere we turned once we got within a block of where it was held. Did that deter us? Not in the least little bit. There were over 300 vendors selling fabrics by the yard, fat quarters, all kinds of new sewing gadgets, long-arm quilting machines, and then there were ALL the hundreds of quilts competing for top prizes… I just counted and I have 59 pictures on my phone, so I’ll have to wait and show them tomorrow, hopefully, after I have sorted and edited them.
I was VERY good… everything I bought fit in a small bag… about the size of a gallon zip lock bag… 3 fat quarters, 1 pattern and 3 pieces of vintage trim! :o)
It was fun to hear of all your memories (and purchases) of the Daisy Kingdom fabrics, patterns and dolls…
For today, I’m showing you Emmie’s new dress… you can see right away, I changed her wig… I think the platinum blonde one made her eyes look like she was an alien or something… I didn’t like my pictures of them…
So I found this brown wig and I think it will be better… it makes her look a little “softer” and more sweet!
I finished the sleeves and bodice, then hand hemmed the skirt of the dress and finished off the inside work on it. I found one 10mm wide piece of white silk ribbon and added a bow at the front of the dress.
Then I just posed her a few different ways… I hope you like how it’s turning out…
I kept thinking this fabric looked familiar…and realized I had made Nyssa one in the lavender version of this Daisy Kingdom fabric…
She was in a wedding and was pooped out after the long day! Since I didn’t have much to show today, I thought you might enjoy seeing these pictures from the archives…
I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
